Job Description

SLD Laser is a dynamic and exciting start up with a mission to pioneer the future of light by illuminating our world with the brightest and most innovative laser light sources. The company was founded by several leading global pioneers in solid state lighting, including Dr. Shuji Nakamura, 2014 Nobel Laureate in Physics.
We are seeking a Sr. integration engineer to join the laser process engineering team in our Fremont fab. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of semiconductor device physics, compound semiconductor wafer processes and tools with a focus on optoelectronics and laser products.
You will design, develop, integrate, and refine various aspects of the laser diode fabrication process with a focus on performance, yield, and throughput improvements. As an Sr. integration engineer your projects will cover many process areas, with examples including fab wafer size increases or chip design improvements.

Specific Responsibilities
·      Iterate and improve laser chip design for improved performance, reliability, and yield.
·      Design and develop improved and robust processes within the integrated laser process flow.
·      Specify, procure and bring up new wafer fab capital equipment.
·      Work instructions and training of new engineers as well as process technicians.
·      SPC monitoring and implementation towards continuous improvement of laser products.
·      Help drive development by facilitating rapid turn short-loop feedback cycles.
·      Hands-on process implementation and tool optimization – significant time on the fab floor.
·      Maintain a safe work environment while working with vacuum tools.
