Postdoctoral fellowship to study diet, physical activity, and obesity and their relationship with cancer risk at the U.S. National Cancer Institute
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for exceptional people with expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, or computer programming. You should have, or expect to soon attain, a doctorate degree in these or related fields to apply. Our postdocs are excellent academic performers and strong analytic thinkers who can learn new skills on the job.

What roles are available?
This fellowship is designed to train fellows interested in becoming leaders in the research areas of diet, physical activity, and/or obesity. You will be mentored by Dr. Steven C. Moore, Ph.D., M.P.H., of the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG). Dr. Moore is an expert on physical activity and obesity and their role in cancer etiology. He was one of the first researchers to apply metabolomics to epidemiologic studies and was the founding chair of the Consortium of Metabolomics Studies.
During this fellowship, your roles could include analyzing how exercise or diet are related to risk of cancer in datasets of millions of people or discovering new diet biomarkers by analyzing how weighed food intake relates to levels of 1000s of metabolites from blood and urine. Programmers would help develop new online tools for statistical analysis of omics data in collaboration with leading biostatisticians from around the world. Your skills and preferences will be considered in determining your role.
