Research Associate, US Quantitative Research

We are looking for a Research Associate to work with our Head of U.S. Quantitative Research and team in the New York office of Bernstein’s premier sell-side Equity Research platform. You will have a high level of responsibility on a 4-person team and be empowered to make an important contribution.

As a Research Associate, you will:

  • Acquire expertise working with the Bernstein Head of U.S. Quantitative Research and team
  • Develop and implement sophisticated quantitative tools including stock selection models, risk models, and portfolio analysis. In addition to contributing to our published research, the role will have responsibility for a high level of bespoke products for our institutional client base.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership and make significant contributions to our highly differentiated written product and forward-looking financial analysis
  • Develop relationships with institutional clients, sales, trading as well as interact with senior leaders in the industry

For this role we require a minimum three years of relevant professional experience with a thorough understanding of financial and statistical modeling concepts. Candidates should also be familiar with financial statements and accounting. The ability to build solutions to complex analytical problems and communicate with a sophisticated institutional client base are essential. Proficiency in SAS, Matlab or R required, Python and/or Visual Basic are a plus.

Our Senior Research Associates should meet the following criteria:

  • Track records of outstanding academic performance, including honors and awards. Academic credentials typically include test
  • At least a bachelor's degree in Finance, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering and/or a related field. A post-graduate qualification in a related field is welcome, but not a requirement
  • Excellent broad-based analytical skills, along with strong foundations in finance, markets, and statistics
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong quantitative backgrounds (may have credentials such as the CFA, ACA or CPA)
  • Relentless intellectual curiosity and a drive to excel at the highest level
