Under the general direction of the Program and Project Supervisor (PPS) of the Retail Rates Section of the Demand Response, Customer Generation, Retail Rates, and Interconnection Branch of the Energy Division, the incumbent will serve as a lead analyst and project coordinator in conducting economic, policy and/or technical analyses and research to support Administrative Law Judges (ALJ), Commissioners, and Advisors. The incumbent will serve as an analytical lead in the Commission proceedings evaluating legacy rate structures, advancing the statewide availability of dynamic pricing options, and promoting the integration of rate design and demand response strategies to increase load management and grid resource optimization. In addition, the incumbent will assume lead roles in addressing pricing design issues within the scope of General Rate Cases and Rate Design Windows. Other responsibilities will involve workshop planning and coordination of multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, including regulated utilities, program administrators, parties, market actors, the California Air Resources Board, the California Energy Commission, and the California Independent System Operator.
The analyst will perform other work as necessary, such as writing and presenting reports and evaluating new legislative proposals addressing electric utility retail rate programs.
