Research Tax Credit Specialist

This role entails supporting the Research Tax Credit team with existing and new clients on a daily basis, including the performance of computational and documentary activities. Computationally, the manipulation and analysis of large volumes of financial data in mathematical models (generally Excel-based) is required, with the creation of those models in compliance with the rules governing the research tax credits. The role will also involve drafting and review of specific documents supporting the development activities conducted by client personnel. A successful candidate will be expected to visit client locations, discuss / interview client personnel, take notes, and translate those discussions into living documents (such as memorandums and project descriptions) suitable for release to governmental authorities, providing the maximum written support for client research and development efforts. Additional responsibilities include preparing, tracking, following up with clients on, and reviewing information requests. A curiosity around the latest product development is highly encouraged.

  • Bachelors in Accounting preferred.
  • No prior tax experience required.
  • Excellent writing skills absolutely necessary.
  • Outgoing personality with a willingness to be involved in and eventually take over interview activities.
  • Must be able to convert discussions / interviews into formal written documents.
  • Must be able to work with / understand Excel and Word.
  • Able to work in a team environment, willing to travel when necessary.
  • Willingness to invest time in your own learning and learn other tax concepts.
  • Business hours plus overtime.
  • Pursuit of CPA / EA strongly encouraged.
