This role will begin in June 2020 with multiple rotations over the next 36 months.

Travel Required
Yes, 15% of time traveling. Must be flexible and willing to relocate to any LMI facility; with the potential to relocate for each rotation.  

Position
This position provides support to the LMI Aerospace Operation Team during the startup phase of critical work packages. The Project Engineer will evaluate project needs, prepare and coordinate development plans, and track and evaluate project performance. The Project Engineer will utilize strong communication skills to accurately convey program requirements and coordinate the resolution of issues to key internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist operations in the development of project start-up plans, creation of conceptual planning, and coordination of customer approvals necessary to launch new programs
  • Function as a key interface between Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management and Plant Operations to ensure complete understanding of requirements, goals, and constraints
  • Prepare project schedules detailing critical milestones, first article flow and transition to production
  • Coordinate and resolve engineering issues related to production and operations
  • Document issues and communicate to internal and/or external customers
  • Develop and implement plans for resolution
  • Follow up to ensure that issues have been successfully resolved
  • Assists with the preparation of presentation materials for project reviews with key stakeholders
  • Gather, organize and analyze data related to status and performance on the project
  • Evaluate potential problems and provide risk assessment
  • Document corrective actions and ensure understanding of all team members
  • Facilitate the use of the Teamcenter system on a given program to organize and manage technical data in support of project needs
  • Support/lead meetings to coordinate project requirements and resolve critical issues
  • Participate in various continuous improvement projects to support lean manufacturing practices
  • Act as a change agent with demonstrated ability to gain consensus while remaining focused on key outcomes. Facilitates change by clearly communicating plans, engaging key stakeholders and measuring post-implementation behaviors.

Required Skills/Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline
  • GPA minimum 3.25
  • Past Co-Op or Internship Experience
  • Exemplifies leadership desire and potential, strong critical thinking skills, and learning agility. Must be able to establish networks and collaborate across disciplines while influencing across all level of the organization. Candidate needs to be able to operate under a high degree of ambiguity while demonstrating agility of changing circumstances.
