The Research Data Specialist II (RDS II) assists in the development and support of the estimated expenditures for the Medi-Cal Program. The ability perform critical analysis and concisely communicate in both written and verbal form are essential. The incumbent must also display an independent working knowledge of various statistical methods and applications, including regression analysis.
Complete various complex programmatic estimates for Medi-Cal Budget Estimate, Analyze information and data to derive research conclusions and recommendations, Identify demographic, economic, or other relevant variables for inclusion in the estimates. Three years of progressively responsible technical quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including but not limited to researching, identifying patterns and trends in historical data, as well as data model creation experience.

Education:
Incumbents must possess 12 semester or 18 quarter units’ course work in any combination of a data driven research-related field, such as economics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, demography, geography, anthropology, statistics, data science or a research-related field. This must include at least one course in statistical methods; And graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree. Or Master's Degree in economics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, demography, geography, anthropology, statistics, data science or a related research-oriented field may be substituted for two years of the required experience. A doctoral degree in the same areas may be substituted for three years of the required experience.
