Economic Analyst - Remote (U.S.)

Regional Economic Models, Inc. (REMI) is seeking an Economic Analyst to join its research and development team. The successful candidate will work with our team to maintain and improve our economic models by helping update annual data, perform econometric modeling, and develop new features.

REMI provides the nation’s leading economic policy analysis models. We actively engage with the analysis of major policy areas, from transportation and economic development to taxation. We examine specific issues such as trade and tariffs, immigration, Amazon HQ2.0 location, carbon tax, the Affordable Care Act, and transportation investments. Clients include: associations such as the Business Roundtable and the NFIB; consulting firms such as NERA, Charles River Associates, and Booz Allen Hamilton; and think tanks and universities like the University of Michigan. We also work with a range of government agencies, including the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, Georgia Department of Transportation, and others.

Ideal candidates for this position will be motivated to:

• Research, data collection, and estimation related to national accounts and input-output tables for the U.S. and international economies
• Research, data collection, and estimation related to U.S. and international demographics
• Work with management, programmers, and economists to implement new and expanded features into REMI’s economic models
• Macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis, technical writing, econometrics, and economic modeling

Candidate requirements include:

• Master’s Degree in Economics
• Experience in economic research related to regional economics and economic impact study
• Strong statistical skills and experience analyzing large economic and demographic datasets 
• Experience in developing economic models using advanced econometric methodologies
• Experience with working with statistical software applications, such as Stata, SAS, R, etc.
• Experience in writing research reports and academic papers
