OVERVIEW
We want you to join our movement as a nonprofit apprentice and help you gain the connections, experience, and skills you need to make a social impact.
Public Allies Pittsburgh, an Americorps program is a growing network of 2500+ diverse leaders who are choosing to create lasting, positive impact in Pittsburgh and beyond. Join us for 10 months, and we’ll show you how to make a difference in organizations and communities. We’ll pay you along the way and give you $6000+ towards your next degree too! During your time as a Public Ally, you will be matched with a local nonprofit organization where you'll lend your knowledge and skillset to help them serve more effectively.
What Your Week Will Look Like:
- Work full-time at your assigned nonprofit in a role based on your skills, goals, and organization need.
- Assist residents in bringing community projects to life
- Learn the ins and outs of nonprofit management directly from local experts and changemakers
- Meet with a mentor and coach dedicated to helping you meet your career goals
You’ll Receive:
- Access to a local and national network of impactful leaders and organizations
- Tuition discounts at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh
- $6195 towards student loans or your next degree
- $1500 monthly living stipend
- Occasional day/overnight retreats
You Should Definitely Become A Public Ally If You Are:
- Passionate about social justice, nonprofits, and career growth
- Eager to help local organizations and neighborhoods on a daily basis
- Ready to be pushed beyond your comfort zone and current skill set
- Able to commit to 42 hours a week
- Planning to live in the Pittsburgh area between September 2020-June 2021
- 17 or older & Have a GED or higher
