Senior Operations Research (OR) Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION:
UPS is seeking an experienced Operations Research (OR) Analyst to design and develops leading edge optimizations and analytics based decision support tools throughout the organization. He/She develops moderately complex models and algorithms and designs products, programs, and solutions that impact cost management for all UPS operations, acquisitions, pricing, and performance improvement. Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develops and prototypes algorithms to ensure optimization results satisfy problem statements and business needs
  • Develops hypotheses, approaches (i.e., analytic plans and methodologies), tools, products, and solutions to solve problems and increase profitability
  • Presents analytic findings and recommendations to management to define problems, to propose business cases and strategies, and to gain support

Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to develop interfaces with optimization models to meet the requirements of the planning process
  • Ability to provide consultation to functional partners to support the design of planning systems
  • Ability to develop procedures, maintenance, and support functions to monitor optimization and systems’ performance/integrity and to facilitate problem resolution
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in developing and implementing optimization algorithms for operations planning systems
  • PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Civil Engineering or Statistics 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
§ Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer
§ Employer will not sponsor a visa for this or future positions
§ Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate yourself
§ Must have a PhD
§ Must have 3 - 5 years' experience in developing and implementing optimization algorithms for operations planning systems
