Healthcare Data Science Intern
A Healthcare Data Science Intern will provide support to the data science team in processing, analyzing, and visualization of data from clinical settings and other external healthcare datasets.
Areas of responsibility may include:
· Assist with data analyses and data processing tasks under the direction of more senior team members
· Conduct exploratory analyses and review of healthcare data databases
· Create custom summaries, reports, and visualizations summarizing data quality and the contents of healthcare datasets
· Write generalized python scripts for reuse in profiling an array of datasets
· Explore and script pilots of opportunities for use of machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) models using python’s nltk and/or scikit-learn
· Conduct literature reviews and market analyses of external ML products
· Documenting learnings and findings in a clear, clean manner
Skills required:
· Enrolled in a bachelor’s or graduate program – preferably focused in computer science, informatics, statistics, or similar technical field
· Excellent communication skills
· Excellent analytical reasoning skills
· Ability to learn data science concepts and tools
· Motivated self-starter
· Experience writing SQL or python code
· Experience with basic statistics and/or visualizations (bonus for Tableau)
· Familiarity with data processing and machine learning concepts
· Bonus
o Experience with scikit-learn package for python
o Formal training on database management and design
