Director of Transportation
Responsible for the organization, administration, supervision in the area of the school district transportation system in accordance with state law and policies along with school district policies.
 
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 years of Transportation Experience Preferred; Including Two (2) years in a Supervisory Capacity
  • Experience in Public Education Preferred
  • MSBO Transportation Director Certification or Working Towards Certification.
  • Must Be Able To Meet The State Of Michigan Requirement To Serve As A Person In Charge Of School Bus Operations.
 
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
  • Provides leadership to the Transportation Department on day-to-day operations. Monitors, and assists as needed, in daily operations to assure that work is performed efficiently and in accordance with appropriate regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Oversees all aspects of the daily bus and bus maintenance operations. Provides lead direction to the Transportation Department office and bus maintenance staff. 
  • Responsible for the development and periodic audit of bus routes and stops to provide for effective, efficient, and safe operation of transportation services. 
  • Recruits, interviews, checks background, and make recommendations for employment of all transportation staff.
  • Determines staff training and oversees the development and delivery of opportunities and experiences which enable staff to maintain and enhance skills. 
  • Ensure all district-owned equipment is maintained and plans are developed and implemented for preventative maintenance.
  • Performs purchasing duties, which includes review and approval of invoices, in compliance with district policy and procedures.
  • Coordinates special trip and athletic transportation with other school personnel.
  • Prepares and maintains all applicable records, including but not limited to maintenance, accident, student discipline, pupil counts, route mileage, payroll, etc., in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations, including Board Policy and procedures.
  • Applies in-depth knowledge and understanding of transportation to achieve efficiencies through the use of new technologies and/or processes.
  • Expertise with technology such as google apps, spreadsheets, and transportation routing software
 
Salary:                       $65,000-$70,000
