Data Management and Compliance Associate

The Data Management/Network Security Associate role is an integral role for the company on two fronts. The goal of this position is to serve both as the person who preserves/protects data for the company and our clients and the person who analyzes data to make sense of it for clients. The data security functions include managing how the company stores, organizes, protects and makes data accessible; serving as point person with our outsourced IT partner; and establishing and monitoring policies and procedures that keep us compliant with federal government cyber and physical security guidelines. There is a real opportunity for development and leadership as the cybersecurity subject matter expert. The data analysis functions of the role include working on project teams to manage survey data collection and using software tools to analyze data.

Responsibilities
Data Analysis (40-60%)
  • Transcribe and code survey results
  • Administer web-based surveys by sending out emails and monitoring responses
  • Participate in data and process quality control activities
  • Organize, produce, and review raw data files
  • Use Wincross to generate cross-tab tables
  • Use SPSS algorithms to analyze data
  • Track response rates and manage respondent notifications
  • Coordinate transfer of data files with clients and suppliers
  • Prepare reports showing status of data collection and any data issues
  • Conduct other data management and analysis tasks in support of a client project

Data Security (40-60%)
  • Serve as primary point of contact for managing and coordinating PCG IT vendors and consultants
  • Provide expertise and guidance on data security questions, events, and audits
  • Ensure PCG staff follows data security compliance requirements
  • Oversee PCG’s outsourced IT vendor to maintain current documentation of IT assets
  • Apply IT security frameworks to recommend PCG’s network architecture, hardware, and software
  • Create and submit periodic IT security reports to PCG clients
  • Maintain physical access logs and coordinate physical access issues
  • Work with IT Committee to develop the annual IT budget
  • Manage key vendors such as the alarm system, internet, and key card providers
  • Attending and answering questions during government security audits (3-4 times/year) and ensuring follow up of any open items for PCG and our contractors

Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This is required to work with federal government data.
  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and 2-3 years equivalent work experience with at least 1 year of direct experience working in a high security network environment governed by standards such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, or other similar frameworks.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated comfort level and skills in data analysis tasks and tools
  • Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to do best work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Extensive experience with standard office software applications.
  • Competence with testing, flowchart, and data mapping tools and procedures.
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals and procedural documentation.
  • Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Other Job Parameters
  • On or prior to your start date you will be asked to initiate a government background clearance process. Passing this personnel security clearance and being a U.S. permanent resident or citizen is required because of PCG’s work with federal government data.
  • Working in PCG’s offices in Redwood City; some telecommuting and flextime allowed
  • Some after hours on-call availability
  • Sitting for extended periods of time working on a computer, some lifting of moderately heavy objects such as setting up laptops and monitors; manipulation of tools and technology equipment
  • Required to travel to subcontractors to check on security status.
  • Introductory performance period: 90 days
