Operations Research Analyst
The Pathways-Recent Grad positions are located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Office of Strategic Resources. The incumbent will perform research and analyzes projects pertaining to and/or related to the energy sector or an energy sub-sector, scientific research, and national security.
The Office of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) delivers timely, accurate, and reliable decision support across the Department of Energy (DOE) enterprise. CFO develops, implements, and monitors Department-wide plans, policies, procedures, and systems in the areas of budget administration and appropriations, program analysis and evaluation, finance and accounting, internal controls, corporate business systems, and, financial policy and audits.
As a GS-11 Operations Research Analyst, you will:
- Perform research and analyzes projects pertaining to and/or related to the energy sector or an energy sub-sector, scientific research, and national security. The incumbent's analysis, including identification of key risks and issues, resource alternatives, and programmatic recommendations supports DOE in meeting its program, planning, budget, and execution (PPBE) responsibilities to support decision making processes
- Apply mathematical and statistical theories, techniques and methods to analytical studies, projects and programs, and participates in energy, scientific research, and national security related studies important to agency decision-makers.
- Formulate, design, execute, coordinate, and document a broad range of analyses involving current and projected projects and studies and brings them to meaningful conclusions.
- Evaluate the impact of new technologies, systems and policies, and of applying analytical techniques in innovative ways, to generate ideas and recommend ways to enhance the effectiveness of techniques and scenarios used in current and future projects.
- Identify inadequacies and inconsistencies in data, development of procedures and methodology to modify the data, and modifying or overseeing the modification of the data for research and development purposes.
- Contribute to research and development project management, planning, coordinating with team members, and maintaining appropriate lines of communication
As a GS-12 Operations Research Analyst, you will:
- Perform research and analyzes projects pertaining to and/or related to the energy sector or an energy sub-sector, scientific research, and national security. The incumbent's analysis, including identification of key risks and issues, resource alternatives, and programmatic recommendations supports DOE in meeting its program, planning, budget, and execution (PPBE) responsibilities to support decision making processes.
- Apply mathematical and statistical theories, techniques and methods to analytical studies, projects and programs, and participates in energy, scientific research, and national security related studies important to agency decision-makers.
- Formulate, design, execute, coordinate, and document a broad range of analyses involving current and projected projects and studies and brings them to meaningful conclusions.

- Serve as a technical specialist with respect to research and development project management. When needed, serves as a project leader, assuming responsibility for project planning, coordinating overall team efforts, and maintaining appropriate lines of communication.
