Campus Ambassador

Position: Campus Ambassador


GENERAL SUMMARY

The mission of the Alder Graduate School of Education is to create opportunities and cultivate success for every student by recruiting and educating excellent teachers and leaders who reflect our schools’ communities.

The Teacher Residencies at Alder GSE offer an intensive one-year teacher-training program that prepares teachers by coupling theory and practices through master's level coursework and classroom practicum. Teacher Residents are paired with a highly effective teacher who serves as a mentor and advisor for their entire first year.  Upon successful completion of the program, each Resident will earn a Master’s degree and Teaching Credential from the Alder Graduate School of Education. 

Position Overview
The Alder Campus Ambassador will support Alder’s efforts to recruit talented and diverse college students and achieve Alder’s vision of making this world a more just and better place. Given the rapidly changing scenarios for what class instruction and student life will look like for colleges/universities in the Fall due to COVID, candidates must be excited and able to potentially work in a predominantly virtual environment. In line with college/university guidelines, Ambassadors will support in-person presentations and events. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Recruitment, the essential responsibilities of the Alder Recruitment Ambassador (ARA) include:  

Outreach, Marketing, and Networking

  • Support Alder’s recruitment efforts by implementing projects and events on campus. (2-3 hrs weekly or depending on project workload or event planning) 
  • Distribute Alder's marketing materials to campus partners and throughout campus, relevant to Alder’s mission-aligned organizations and programs.
  •  Develop and increase partnerships with student organizations and academic departments/professors by arranging meetings or co-sponsoring events.
  • Schedule and organize information sessions, classroom presentations, and attend career or graduate fairs

Communication and Leadership Development

  • Join bi-weekly virtual calls with other Ambassadors to discuss recruitment efforts and strategy.
  • Work one on one with the Alder Talent and Admissions Specialist for your campus to identify new opportunities and potential strategies for recruitment at your campus. 
  • Join, as able, Alder’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training and engage actively in Alder’s efforts to promote and establish an inclusive/equitable culture and the environment with the students we recruit. 

QUALIFICATIONS

1) Required Knowledge, skills & abilities:
  • The belief that every student deserves access to excellent teachers
  • Strong motivation to recruit students passionate about social justice and equity in education.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask and work against personal deadlines.
  •  Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop partnerships with diverse student groups.
  • Comfortable with public speaking
 Ideal knowledge, skills, & abilities:
  • Experience with campus marketing or advocacy for a student organization or campus department.
  • Experience and comfort using social media (i.e.: Facebook, Instagram, etc)
  • Leadership or volunteer role on campus or in the local community

2) Minimum Educational Requirements:
  • Full-time student at a college/university
  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior (graduation date of Spring 2021 or later)
