Sports Management & The Art of Leadership Internship

Skyhawks Sports Management and the Art of Leadership Internship program is broken down into 3-Parts: Sports Management Workshop SeminarThe Art of Leadership Workshop Seminar, and In-Person Coaching:

Sports Management Workshop Seminars:
Experience what it is like to start and manage a business in the Sports Industry with the Skyhawks Sports Management Workshop Seminars. Interns will work alongside Billy Goldstein (owner of Skyhawks Contra Costa and Z-sportz Inc.) to gain experience in starting, owning, and operating a small business. Weekly Tasks include:
  • Creating a Business
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing
  • Sales & Proposals
  • Managing Talent
  • Payroll
  • Booking & Invoicing
  • Sports Management

The Art of Leadership Workshop Seminars:
Are you interested in pursuing a career in coaching, teaching/education, childcare, or management/leadership? If so, this virtual seminar program is a must add to your summer calendar. Each week participants will attend a Virtual Workshop Seminar with Skyhawks Contra Costa Owner Billy Goldstein. Between seminars participants will have access to our Leadership Audio Library and encourage to listed to our book of the week. Together, participants will hone the art of Leadership and Public Speaking. Development objectives include learning how to:
  • Lead and motivate others
  • Make learning and development fun
  • Win others to your way of thinking
  • Speak confidently in front of large groups of people
  • Communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise method
  • Use contrast in your voice to entertain and hold people’s attention
  • Analyze your audience and present in a way that makes your audience care
  • Make people like you
  • Become unforgettable

In-Person Coaching:
Put your management/leadership skills in action by leading, motivating, and developing today’s young athletes. Skyhawks coaches teach kids, ages 6.5-12, the rules, techniques, and strategies of Baseball, Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer, and Volleyball. Skyhawks coaches manage interactive team games that encourage friendly competition and teach sportsmanship and teamwork in a positive environment. Skyhawks Coaches create a structured environment with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun. Skyhawks coaches provide a safe environment where kids of any ability can develop at their own pace. We are looking for responsible, enthusiastic, and passionate individuals who want to become better leaders, make a difference in kids’ lives, and have a blast while doing it. Share your passion for sports this Summer with Skyhawks! Interns are paid $13/hour for all coaching assignments.

INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be at least 18 years with a High-School Diploma
  • Must be enrolled in College
  • Must be able to pass a national background check, TB Test, and receive First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Must have regular access to a computer.
  • Must have driver’s license and reliable transportation (own car).
  • Most importantly, applicants must be able to relate well to kids (ages 6.5-11), share their knowledge and passion for sports, and bring a high-energy “can do” attitude to camp EVERYDAY!

SUMMER II INTERNSHIP SCHEDULE:
  • Monday - Friday: 8:00AM-1:00PM
  • Thursday: 5:00PM-6:15PM
  • Friday: 5:00PM-6:15PM
  • Summer II Internship Runs: July 16th – September 18th
  • Slight alterations to the internship schedule can be made to work with your school schedule

INTERNSHIP BENEFITS:
Interns receive $13/hour for all coaching assignments. Workshop seminars, trainings, and at home academic work/development is unpaid. 

Our internship program is approved for course credit by most colleges/universities in the Bay Area. We can customize our internship breakdown to meet the needs of a particular class, department, or institute

Interns who pass the internship program receive:
  • Sports Management Internship Program Certificate of Completion
  • The Art of Leadership Internship Program Certificate of Completion
  • Positive Coaching Alliance Certificate of Completion
  • Signed Letter of Recommendation from Owner
  • Required paperwork/evaluation for Course Credit
  • Permission from Owner to list as a professional reference on resume
