Communication & Advocacy Intern

BACKGROUND

First 5’s policy efforts advance our vision and mission in a variety of ways. We lead and participate in key initiatives in Alameda County and the state and bring together local funders and stakeholders around early childhood policy and fund development. We believe it is fundamental to support the efforts of parent/family-led organizations to advocate for the needs of young children as they cultivate, support, and train parent leaders. At a state and federal level, we partner with the First 5 Association on important legislative initiatives that advance or threaten the development of strong, effective, and stable family-serving systems and work to build awareness among partners and families about those initiatives. Our policy work is driven by short-term data collection and long-term evaluation to show the impact of our work on young children with policymakers and identify gaps that will inform future policy goals. For more information, please go to: http://www.first5alameda.org/
