Alonzo King LINES Ballet & LINES Ballet Internships
Alonzo King LINES Ballet, one of the world’s premiere dance institutions, is part of the cultural fabric of San Francisco and known around the globe for its impact on shaping the future of ballet through its celebrated contemporary ballet company. Founded by visionary choreographer Alonzo King, the organization has been recognized for its world-premiere performances featuring unique collaborations with noted composers, musicians, and visual artists. Alonzo King creates works that draw on a diverse set of deeply rooted cultural traditions and imbue classical ballet with new expressive potential. The mission of Alonzo King LINES Ballet is to nurture dynamic artistry and the development of authentic, creative expression in dance, through collaboration, performance, and education.

Alonzo King LINES Ballet is debuting a year-round internship program as part of our ongoing efforts to offer learning opportunities to the future artists and arts administrators of tomorrow. Please be aware that internships are unpaid and we are not able to provide a stipend, housing, or any other type of compensation. We do work with schools so that interns can receive academic credit and are able to take dance and fitness classes at the LINES Dance Center at no charge.

Internships are offered in Marketing, Development, Arts Management, Education Administration and Graphic Design. For Fall 2020, interns can fulfill their hours remotely and may be based either locally or outside of San Francisco.

ELIGIBILITY
Internship programs are available to college and graduate students enrolled in an accredited university.

INTERNSHIP TIMEFRAMES
Fall Internship 8 weeks: October 26, 2020 – December 20, 2020
15 hours per week
Start and end dates may vary based on assigned placement and students’ educational requirements.

INTERNSHIP POSITIONS

Graphic Design
Graphic Design internship is designed for individuals interested in executing and refining their design skills by supporting the existing marketing team. LINES’ in-house marketing team develops all internal and external materials to support a range of activities and messaging for the Professional Company, Dance Center, Educational Programming, and Fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate for this position would have creative knowledge of designing for both print/electronic platforms, be able to hit deadlines, and an interest in graphic design. Must have knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop, along with excellent written, verbal and organizational skills. Additional skills such as video editing or web design are a plus.

Development
Development internships will provide support to the development team and give a first hand experience of the work and structure of a development, fundraising, donor cultivation and benefits administration. Duties may include conducting research, identifying potential vendors and partnerships, as well as maintaining database and other administrative projects. The ideal candidate for this position would have a passion for the arts, exceptional organization, written, and interpersonal skills. Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite required.

Marketing
Marketing internships will provide support to the marketing team in implementing the organization’s marketing efforts, across all platforms. Intern will gain working knowledge of traditional and digital marketing initiatives, including those of the Professional Company, Dance Center, Educational Programs and Community Programs. The ideal candidate for this position would have exceptional organization, written, and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment. Additional skills include proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.) Additional skills such as Graphic Design, Photoshop, Video editing or web design are a plus.

Arts Management
Arts Management internships are designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career as a company manager, general manager, managing director or executive director. This internship will introduce individuals to the management of a professional dance organization. Working directly with the Chief Administrative Officer participating in tasks including company, development, marketing and education support, financial reporting, human resources management, labor law, board relations and best practices for organizational management. The ideal candidate for this position would have a passion for the arts, exceptional organization, written, and interpersonal skills. Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite required.

Education Administration
Education Administration internship is designed for individuals interested in learning the ins and outs of running a wide range of education programming for pre-professional dancers, community members and families. The ideal candidate for this position would have exceptional organization, written, computer, and interpersonal skills. Experience with Microsoft and Google suite (word, excel, google docs, etc.) is required. Experience with Zoom & MindBody is a plus. Ideal candidate would be based in San Francisco, but not required.
