Content Distribution Internships – Spring 2021, Remote

Responsibilities

Content Distribution is a division of NBCUniversal that drives the North American distribution of the company’s multi-billion dollar television portfolio to cable, satellite and telco providers, as well as live streaming services, and other digital platforms. A key revenue-generator, the division oversees the distribution of NBC and Telemundo owned stations, all of NBCUniversal’s cable entertainment, news and sports networks, NBCUniversal’s DTC service, Peacock, and the Olympics. The group also leads the content strategy and development for offerings that include video-on-demand (VOD) and TV Everywhere (TVE). 
 
Internships & Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): 

Marketing & Communications: Interns support the group’s overall function, which is to develop innovative integrated marketing initiatives with our distribution partners to reinforce the value of the NBCUniversal’s network portfolio and increase network ratings. Tasks can include tracking our network promos, compiling and sending industry news to company executives, event set-up and clean-up, and ad hoc tasks as needed.   
 
Digital-Technical Production & Project Management: Interns will act as Business Analysts during their time with NBCU and the Technical Production team. They can expect to own projects that stretch across multiple teams within content distribution and technology teams; assist with larger projects, including developing business cases and proposals; define, draft, negotiate, and analyze program and project requirements based on established KPIs and the needs of multiple stakeholders; continuously evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement & optimization, and develop & implement solutions.  
 
Digital-Product Partnerships: The Product Partnerships team is responsible for working with NBCUniversal’s networks and distribution partners to leverage product initiatives, business needs, content opportunities and related analytics to drive content usage and revenue growth. The Spring MBA intern will have exposure to key business and technology drivers that contribute to successful product experiences on video platforms. Intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 

  • Help drive distributor performance and monetization through collaborative programming and product initiatives 
  • Research market trends, data insights and competitive analysis to drive product roadmaps and develop a POV for ways to improve the consumer experience 
  • Collaborate across various departments and levels within the company including Business Development & Sales, Networks, Operations, Finance, Ad Sales, Marketing, Legal and Business Affairs

Qualifications/Requirements

In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress.

Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits)

Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

Must be 18 years of age or older

Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal

Desired Characteristics

A background in any of the following areas: Business, Business Administration, Communications Digital/New Media, Film/Television, Finance, Marketing, Marketing Analytics, Media Studies, Public Relations, Research, Statistics

Strong written and oral communication skills, organized, detail oriented, team player, high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel, ability to multi-task, knowledge and passion for the entertainment industry

Works well with data

Knowledge of interest in emerging technologies, block-chain, ML / AI and other transactional or fin-tech a plus

Previous internship experience or on-campus leadership
