Analytics Software Engineer
STR's Analytics Division builds state-of-the-art technologies to support analysts, decision makers, engineers, and other end users in the national security community. Our projects span multiple different data modalities and incorporate advanced algorithms, deep learning, and statistical techniques to uncover patterns in social media, structured and unstructured text, time series, geospatial, and imagery data. The tools and technologies we develop have real world impact and are used by analysts to extract and enrich intelligence information around the globe.
As an Analytics Software Engineer, you will join an agile team and solve large, complex problems that have a direct impact on national security and defense. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software infrastructure that supports a variety of analytics. You will interact with real data sources and deploy capabilities that operate at scale for applications such as data ingestion, ETL processes, machine learning, and other advanced analytics. You will work collaboratively with other software engineers and data scientists at STR as well as engage with end users and customers to understand requirements and mission needs. We are looking for people at all levels of experience.
Requirements
Who you are:
- Degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering, computational sciences, or a related field
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java
- Familiarity with one or more of Spark, Hive, Dask, and/or similar technologies for working with data at scale
- Motivated collaborator who’s comfortable communicating to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security
Even Better:
- Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.
- Experience with software development lifecycle, unit testing, and benchmarking technologies based on requirements
- Experience working with database technologies and writing SQL statements in either relational or noSQL databases
- Active TS or TS/SCI security clearance
