The Program:
At Medidata, interns will have the opportunity to accelerate their careers by working closely with experienced professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. By being a part of our global organization, interns have the opportunity to work alongside our talented and committed professionals helping them to build a strong foundation for achieving their career goals. For 12 weeks, beginning May 24, 2021, interns will have an opportunity to gain a deep understanding of what it means to be a Medidatian. United around a single goal of empowering smarter treatments and healthier people. Medidatians work in a culture of curiosity, innovation and fun. You will be contributing to the line of business with sustainable and meaningful work.
Our Summer Internship program also includes instructor led training, guided mentorship, exposure to senior leadership and community service. In addition to individual and specific related responsibilities, each intern will participate in our Intern Innovation Lab. Assigned to cross-functional teams, interns will work closely to develop an innovative solution to a business problem currently facing Medidata. As they work diligently to present their final solutions to a panel of top Medidata leaders, we are confident that our interns will make a significant impact on our business.
The Position:
As a Product Management Intern within our Acorn AI team, you will partner with our Product Management, Engineering and Data Science teams and become an integral member of your team during your time at Medidata building software that streamlines the incorporation of genetics into clinical development and brings precision medicine closer to reality. Our technology, AI analytics and expertise that streamline translational data management, enhance disease insights, and accelerate biomarker discovery to improve the likelihood of getting the right treatment to the right patient in the shortest amount of time.
Roles And Responsibilities:
The proposed project centers on competitive analysis and strategic partnering and will provide you with an opportunity to explore the various functions of product management.
The project may include:
- An assessment of the competitive landscape in the market: including product content, users, pricing and workflow
- An assessment of potential partners (e.g., open-source software, sequencing company, LIMS systems, etc.)
- Feature recommendations and specifications for key areas
Activities will include market research, gathering voice of users and information synthesis. The intern will also have the opportunity to integrate best practices from coursework into her/his activities as appropriate.
Your Competencies:
Our Value Discovery product team is focused on building software solutions that enable the rapid development of more precise therapies and more refined characterizations of disease. The intern in this role will be performing competitive analyses and evaluating product positioning and proposing strategic product functionality for future development.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in applying technology and data to solve the most challenging problems in healthcare.
Your Education & Experience:
- An undergraduate student in the life sciences or technology
- Strongly interested in understanding how technology is applied to healthcare in a business to business context
- Interested in learning how data and analytics are integrated into a software product
- Willing to jump into projects and learn as they go, showing initiative and having the ability to effectively manage project timelines
- Good communicators, able to share knowledge, ask for help and be effective in a collaborative team.
- People with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and to “get in the head” of product users
- Able to use Excel and PowerPoint
