EYEJ Youth Council Community Organizer Team Members

EYEJ empowers young people to be advocates for change through YODJ: Youth Discussing Justice and its Youth Council. The EYEJ community includes 1,200 diverse adult members, donors, allies, and organizations who engage with and learn about social justice issues through dialogue and implementing solutions with over 1,700 young people and participation in programs.

JOB DETAILS:
Job Title: EYEJ Youth Council Community Organizer Team Member/Intern
Immediate Supervisor: Director of Policy, EYEJ Youth Council
Time: Approx. 2-4 hours/week as available, in person
Minimum Degree: Attending College
Primary Objective: Acts as an advocate for EYEJ Youth Council members to ensure the Social Policy team is empowering the YouthCouncil strategy, initiatives, ideas, and voices.
Any additional benefits: Ability to empower and mentor the EYEJ YouthCouncil. Inspire young people to be advocates for change. Assist in event planning and creative endeavors.


JOB SUMMARY:
Attend weekly Youth Council Core meeting (mandatory)
Mentor youth council members and help prepare for upcoming events 
Capture the youth council voice: in social policy programming
Any additional hiring specifications: 
Volunteer with this role for a minimum of 6 months and train incoming volunteers.
Work well with high school-aged young advocates. 
Creativity, self-management, reliability, commitment, detail-oriented, and innovation is a must.

Technology Requirements:
Excellent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive/GoogleDocs
Experience with Social Media (Facebook, Linked In, Instagram) 
Experience with Slack and Trello preferred
Experience with Salesforce and Quickbooks a plus
