Pre Award Grants Administrator

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), is seeking an experienced Pre-Award Grants Administrator to join the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP). The office actively promotes the research and education mission of CSHL.

The Pre-Award Grants Administrator will proactively identify funding opportunities matched with CSHL expertise and needs, determine and communicate submission policies and requirements, and facilitate the preparation and submission of third party funding applications. The experienced candidate will also assure that regulatory and assurance requirements are addressed and all relevant CSHL and funding organization policies and requirements are adhered to prior to institutional endorsement of applications. The Administrator will serve as an institutional resource and train institutional staff in the use of electronic funding application systems

A minimum of 3-5 years of grant submission experience in a sponsored research environment working with research investigators and funding organization representatives is required.

A Bachelor’s degree is required, an advanced degree is preferred.

Excellent organizational, analytical, collaborative and consultative skills are required. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills are essential. The candidate identified will possess the ability to exercise sound professional judgment while following institutional and departmental policies, procedures and practices, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy in all matters. A high level of comfort and proficiency with technology/electronic tools, including web and internet applications, MS Excel, Word and outlook is required. Research budget preparation and financial spreadsheet analysis skills are essential and knowledge of Lawson and Huron Click Business Systems software is a plus.
