Ph.D. Intern, Wireless Communications

Responsibilities
  • Carry out cutting-edge research in air-interface design including transceiver architecture development, modulation and waveform design, algorithms, and protocols for next generation mobile communication systems
  • Perform literature surveys and summarize state-of-the-art in selected areas
  • Drive tradeoff analysis of various transceiver topologies including power consumption estimation
  • Evaluate design concepts using simulation, and/or theoretical analysis
  • Provide reports and presentations on testing and design efforts
  • Drive unit and link-level simulation efforts
  • Support end-to-end system level simulation efforts
  • Support behavioral and transistor level circuit simulation

Qualifications
  • M.S., or Ph.D.  student in Electrical Engineering or related field (Ph.D. preferred)
  • Experience in wireless communications principals:
  • Modulation and coding
  1. Advanced waveforms
  2. PHY/MAC related to IEEE and/or 3GPP standards is a plus
  • The successful candidate should be comfortable with the following concepts and toolsets:
  1. Phased antenna arrays and beamforming
  2. Receiver link budget analysis
  3. MATLAB and Simulink
  • Familiarity with analog and digital modulation schemes for sub-THz radios is preferred, but not required
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Ability to thrive in an innovative, dynamic, and research-oriented work environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills
