Video Editor Intern

Summary:
Splicer Films is seeking a Video Editor Intern to assist in creating content for our documentary projects, and create the pilot, film teasers, work samples, or trailers for industry pitches and submissions and various channels including YouTube, Vimeo, websites and social media. We also are seeking editors to create short-form content on our social media channels including for podcasts, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. The role allows for creative freedom to develop an impactful style of work between short and long form pieces. The work product will represent the Splicer Films mission to tell authentic and honest stories that spark positive change. 

Responsibilities:
  • Produce high-quality creative videos, documentary content, trailers, reels, work samples, pilots or short-form marketing videos using production footage, interview footage, and more.
  • Edit videos to include music, interviews, sound clips, b-roll, branding, special effects and other important aspects of the project.
  • Establish a clear understanding of the storyline, purpose, and goal of each piece.
  • Collaborate with screenwriters and production team to script, plan, draft and distribute video production plans.
  • Utilize Frame.io and Airtable for video review and project tracking while working with various Splicer teams to complete the project.
  • Distribute projects to respective social channels.
  • Improve video and sound quality using various video/audio software.
  • Collaborate with directors and writers to create shot lists for production shoots.
  • Utilize established best-practices for brand, style, subtitles, lower-thirds, and other video requirements.
  • Modify content for various media platforms and special requirements for each channel: YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok.

Requirements:
  • Film B.F.A. junior or senior or Film M.F.A with video portfolio samples
  • Experienced in Adobe Premiere. Experience in After Effects a plus.
  • 1 - 2 years of creative video editing and film experience. Versed in all aspects of pre-production, shooting, editing and post-production.
  • High-level editing skills; including a good sense of timing, continuity, audio standards and screen composition.
  • Motivated to gain experience in a startup environment and apply your film and creative abilities to impactful content.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and creative mindset with strong initiative and collaborative work style.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment, prioritize objectives and switch projects fluidly.
  • A creative approach to source and apply stock footage.
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a collaborative setting.
  • Strong communicator, active listener and responder, detail-oriented - quality and precision-focused.
  • Innovative and creative approach to filmmaking.
  • Outcome-oriented - results-focused with a strong performance culture.
  • Strong organizational skills to organize and maintain a collection of source materials and assets.
  • Possess a strong internal desire to continually explore and improve video editing abilities and technical understanding.

Job Type: Internship for Course Credit

Schedule:
  • Day or Evening 
  • Commit 15-20 hours per week with a flexible schedule. 
  • Set project work schedule, and availability for meetings, and status calls.
