Supply Chain Summer Intern

Intevac was founded in 1991 and has two businesses: Thin-film Equipment and Photonics.

In our Thin-film Equipment business, we are a leader in the design and development of high-productivity, thin-film processing systems. Our production-proven platforms are designed for high-volume manufacturing of substrates with precise thin film properties, such as the hard drive media, display cover panel, and solar photovoltaic markets we serve currently. In our Photonics business, we are a recognized leading developer of advanced high-sensitivity digital sensors, cameras and systems that primarily serve the defense industry. We are the provider of integrated digital imaging systems for most U.S. military night vision programs.

This exciting position will assist the Supply Chain Purchasing Department in accomplishing department goals and objectives while learning the essential functions of the Purchasing Department. You will gain a practical understanding of the Supply Chain business process, including planning, purchasing and production. You will also have an opportunity to learn the efforts involved from product inception through production and the role of Supply Chain to ensure supply continuity throughout the production life cycle.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Partner with cross-functional organizations to understand business requirements and process flows from Engineering to Supply Chain
  • Document new part release process from Engineering to Supply Chain
  • Review Bill of Materials information and update data in the ERP system for accuracy of information including lead times and inspection requirements
  • Assist in revamping new supplier survey and evaluation
  • Support in updating training materials and work instructions
  • Assist with other initiatives and process improvements projects as needed

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum one year working toward a Bachelor's degree in a business discipline
  • A background in Supply Chain Management coursework
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Due to ITAR regulations; US Person status required (Green Card at minimum).
