Remote Intern, Corporate Development

Agios (agios.com) is a biopharmaceutical company committed to applying our scientific leadership in cellular metabolism to transform the lives of patients with cancer and rare genetic diseases. We are growing rapidly with an active research and discovery pipeline across both therapeutic areas. Agios has two approved oncology precision medicines and multiple first-in-class investigational therapies in clinical and/or preclinical development.

Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic MBA Summer Intern to join our Corporate Development team. The Corporate Development Intern will drive specific high-priority strategic and operational initiatives in support of the company’s highest value business imperatives. In addition, the individual will support annual long-range planning and capital allocation projects, as well as support for priority business development projects.

Key Responsibilities
· Drive specific high-priority strategic and operational initiatives including but not limited to evaluation of ex-US commercialization and partnership model, prioritization of Genetically Defined Disease expansion opportunities, and capital allocation/spend to support growth of the Agios pipeline
· Support stage-appropriate portfolio management approach to drive investment decisions and long-range plan (annual asset strategy and portfolio review, generation of inputs, capital allocation decisions)
· Provide strategic input/support for ongoing Business Development activities in conjunction with business development team, as appropriate
· Maintain knowledge of external market landscape, competitors and Agios portfolio points of differentiation in relevant Genetically Defined Disease markets

Minimum Requirements
· Completion of first year in leading MBA program
· At least 4 years of experience in biopharmaceutical industry or management consulting with specialization in healthcare
· Ability to think strategically about current portfolio and future evolution in the context of competition and external trends
· Strong analytical ability and facility with financial forecasting
· Strong written and verbal communication suitable for Executive audience
· Strong teamwork and collaboration, ability to mobilize organization, ability to influence without direct authority

Preferred Qualifications
· Scientific background
· Investment banking experience or deal sheet
· Experience in Rare or Genetically Defined Diseases
