Fire Communications Dispatcher

$41.43 - $45.85 Hourly
$86,174.40 - $95,368.00 Annually
The City of Oakland is currently recruiting to fill multiple vacancies for Fire Communications Dispatcher within the Oakland Fire Department's Communications Division. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain a calm demeanor in emergencies, listen thoroughly and relate clearly to others, and will possess excellent customer service skills. Incumbents in this position are required to work any shift in a 24-hour period, including nights, weekends and holidays.
The Fire Communications Dispatcher provides fast, accurate and effective dispatch of emergency and non-emergency resources to appropriate locations.

Minimum Requirements for Application
Any combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the following minimum qualifications is acceptable.
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Experience: Two years of experience as a dispatcher or related field.
License or Certificate / Other Requirements:
- Must be eighteen (18) years or older.
- Must pass a thorough background investigation.
- Must successfully complete and maintain regulation Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification program as a condition of employment.
