The University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication is looking for an experienced and innovative public relations instructor. Our PRSA-certified program emphasizes experiential learning, strategic thinking, and a commitment to social justice and diversity/inclusion.

Our public relations sequence is rapidly growing, with more than 500 majors and pre-majors. Instructors teach 2-3 courses per term (8 courses per school year in media relations and writing, strategic use of social media, campaigns, and special topics classes). This person also will help advise an active PRSSA chapter. This faculty member may also have opportunities to teach in the Strategic Communication master’s program in Portland.

This is a non-tenure-track, nine-month, position FTE. Career Instructors are eligible for promotion to Senior Instructor after 18 terms of teaching. Salary is commensurate with experience and ranges from $55,000-$60,000, and the University of Oregon offers a competitive benefits package.

This position is based in Eugene. 

Position Requirements

Masters, 3 to 4 Years work experience
Minimum Requirements
• Master’s degree in Public Relations or related field
• Three years of professional experience in public relations

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience teaching at the university level and an interest in one of our growing cognate areas—sports communication, data analytics, game studies and immersive media, or science/health communication
