Staff Research Associate I - Human Endometrial Biology and Stem Cell Research Laboratory
The Human Endometrial Biology and Stem Cell Research Laboratory in the Center for Reproductive Sciences at UCSF is seeking an SRA to join the team. The team, led by Dr. Linda Giudice, studies the human endometrium using tools such as single-cell RNAseq. It also runs the Human Endometrial Tissue Bank, a biorepository for UCSF and extramural investigators for research on endometrial biology and disorders, with the goal of improving women’s health and enhancing knowledge in female reproductive science.
The successful candidate will assist the PI, and support the Tissue Bank staff in laboratory tasks such as processing primary tissues and establishing/maintaining cell cultures based on existing SOPs. The hired SRA will also help maintain the Bank's REDCap database with data entry/subject annotation and coordinate routine biospecimen analysis. The incumbent will also engage in establishing the Tissue Bank website as well as a web-based interface for single-cell RNAseq data visualization and analysis. The hired SRA will help manage lab logistics such as maintaining equipment, placing lab orders, and enforcing compliance of lab safety. Research projects with an experimental or a computational focus can be established based on the incumbent's interest.
Experience with laboratory operations and proper understanding of biosafety are required. A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Bioengineering, Biomedical science, Biochemistry, Computational science, and equivalent diciplines as well as experiences of working with primary human tissues, cell cultures, infectious human biospecimens are preferred. Experience with statistical analysis, the REDCap database, and knowledge in Data Science and programming (e.g. R, Python) are highly desired. Willingness and ability to learn, a great sense of humor and attention to detail are essential.
