Consultant (3-5 Years' experience)

Blue Beyond is a woman-owned management consulting firm that focuses on the people side of business — culture, change management, organizational effectiveness, communications, talent, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
We’re looking for collaborative team members who will apply strategic and execution support to our clients and their work in a variety of ways – all while navigating environments with multiple stakeholders and nuanced organizational dynamics. In this role, you will be a key member of our consulting team, contributing to the development of project strategies and deliverables, responsible for planning and tracking projects, staying current on the “plotline” of projects, serving as the “go to” person for both the internal and external teams, and providing overall support and partnership to one of our consulting Leads as they manage across a portfolio of accounts and projects. 
Consultants in this role are vital to helping our Blue Beyond team perform at its peak capacity by ensuring our teams and projects are aligned and on track. You will actively support our clients and their work, gain experience in our service areas, as well as in the thinking and processes involved in managing consulting projects and accounts. People who thrive in this role enjoy a combination of big picture thinking and detail orientation, planning and project management, and anticipating issues and opportunities – self-starters, excited by and comfortable with ambiguity, detail oriented, and able to collaboratively drive projects forward.


Responsibilities


  • Develop your consulting skill set and acumen as you deliver, manage, and sell a variety of client work.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues based on mutual respect and trust; work responsively and collaboratively in ways that both build and support the team.
  • Ask good questions. Think diagnostically, quickly analyze scenarios, and “connect the dots” to determine where value can be added. 
  • Identify, recommend, and collaborate to implement effective solutions. Examples include:
  • Identify, develop, and implement business effectiveness initiatives and strategies that help build and sustain high-performing teams.
  • Work with clients to develop programs and platforms that support an environment of growth and professional development.
  • Design, manage, and conduct data analysis of client discovery and assessment processes, including things such as executive interviews, focus groups, and pulse surveys. 
  • Develop compelling content in a variety of styles/formats. Write and synthesize content that connects and inspires diverse audiences. 
  • Work closely with the account lead and client team to keep the “plotline” of a project. Track project progress and execution, facilitate the development of project goals and deliverables, flag potential obstacles, and generally help the team stay connected. 
  • Support internal team and client-facing meetings through developing agendas, taking detailed notes, synthesizing themes, and communicating and tracking next steps.
  • Provide overall support and partnership to consulting Leads as they manage across accounts, including developing an understanding of our philosophies, practices, and systems that enable account planning, budget and staff planning, client billing activities, business development, and contact management in our CRM.
  • Interface with Blue Beyond internal teams (Operations, Marketing, Visual Communications) as needed to coordinate project logistics.
  • Show up in the Blue Beyond way – Set the tone and represent the account team through all interactions with clients (meetings, event invitations, notes, deliverables etc.)
  • Quickly learn and adapt to client tools and systems.

  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to effectively edit/proof documents, create content, and offer suggestions.   
  • Skilled in creating effective PowerPoint presentations.
  • Demonstrated competency with a wide variety of channels, tools, and technology for communication, project management, and team/client engagement.

Qualifications



  • BS/BA degree in business, communications, organizational development, marketing or a related field. 
  • Three to five years’ experience in consulting, project management, communications, business administration or a related field. Equivalent experience considered.
  • Strong project management, writing, and PowerPoint presentation development skills. 
  • Knowledge or experience in the areas of business and internal communications, organizational change and employee engagement and culture is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Survey Monkey or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with Zoho or equivalent account management tools.
