Position Title: LGBT Community Engagement and Employment Outreach – VISTA
Organization: Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Pathfinders

Purpose of Position
This VISTA service member will work with the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Pathfinders. This VISTA will work 30-40 hours/week and the goal is to:
- Increase the use of and enhance the effectiveness of career readiness programming and resources for LGBTQ citizens in Wisconsin.
- Create and strengthen partnerships of businesses and organizations across the state.
- Oversee and create career readiness programming and support at Pathfinders for youth in crisis.
Key Responsibility Area: Volunteer Management
Specific Duties:
- Oversee and manage the Chamber’s Workforce Development program (PRISM) in partnership with Pathfinders; including creation of job seeking preparedness resources.
- In conjunction with Chamber and Pathfinders, assist with community building events such a “Chamber on Tap” and “Coffee Connections”.
- Assist with coordination of “LGBTQ+ & Allies Career Fairs”.
- Facilitate creation and implementation of career readiness programming.
- Conducting regular communications with Chamber members and other organizations to foster and create new partnerships.
- Creating surveys and analyze feedback from after events, programming, or development of new career resources.
- Create and support programming with Pathfinders with their work with youth facing issues like homelessness, sexual abuse, mental health issues, exploitation and trafficking.
- Raise awareness within the state about the importance of inclusivity in the workplace and expand promotional programming.
Job Relationships:
- Will work with Pathfinders to bring safety and educational programming to youth in crisis in the Milwaukee area.
- Will work with community organizations and neighborhood programs to develop responsive career readiness programming for youth LGBTQ+ ages 12-25.
- Will work with the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce to promote LGBT owned businesses and foster inclusivity.
- Will be supervised jointly by the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Pathfinders. Employee will work 15-20 hours a week with Pathfinders and 15-20 hours a week with the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber for a total of 30-40 hours per week.
Qualifications Required:
- Organizational skills and attention to details
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage others and delegate tasks
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with issues of LGBTQ+ equality
- Ability to read at a 12th grade level
- High School diploma
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, G Suite, and virtual meeting software.
- Access to reliable high-speed Internet
- Reliable transportation
- At least 30 higher education credits (trade school, community college credit, or college credit).
- Work with be both virtual and in-person. Candidate must reside in the Greater Milwaukee area.
Hours per Week: 30-40 hours/week
Salary/Compensation:
- A monthly living stipend of $1,212.
- Healthcare: AmeriCorps VISTA health benefit plan
- Student loan deferment: AmeriCorps members are eligible to postpone the repayment of qualified student loans through loan forbearance.
- Childcare: AmeriCorps members can receive childcare benefits if they meet the eligibility requirements.
- Education award after completion of service year of $6,000.
