We’re recruiting for a Volunteer Program Manager who will oversee and continue to build a broad and integrated volunteer program. Join our team and help us prevent homelessness and end hunger!
Job Summary: The Volunteer Program Manager supports MOM’s work by building a broad and integrated volunteer program that supports both client-facing programs and administrative and development needs, ensuring greatest impact for those using MOM’s services as well as providing a place for community members to make a meaningful difference. As a member of the Development team, the Volunteer Program Manager works closely with staff to ensure volunteers have a positive experience, manages and develops the Volunteer Program and facilitates and leads training. The Volunteer Program Manager also directly manages the volunteer aspects of the Seniors Program.

Manage and Develop the Volunteer Program
- Communicate and meet regularly with program and development staff to determine volunteer staffing needs.
- Be a resource to staff on volunteer-related topics, best practices when working with volunteers, and volunteer considerations in making program procedural or policy changes.
- Manage and update meaningful volunteer resources, including a volunteer handbook, position descriptions, all other materials and policies as they relate to volunteers.
- Ensure that volunteers are recognized and appreciated, both by planning an annual event and by working with staff to appreciate volunteers throughout the year.
- Working with the Communications Director and program staff, manage and coordinate organization-wide volunteer communication.
- Keep accurate records and data, including being the administrative lead for Volgistics (volunteer management database) and the lead on volunteer data in Bloomerang (donor database). Train volunteers and staff on these programs as needed.
- Be the point of contact for long-term, recurring groups (businesses, churches and other groups) who are volunteering in individual volunteer spots.
Recruit and Train Volunteers
- Facilitate and oversee ongoing organizational level training for volunteers including regular racial equity training.
- Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies to create a diverse and robust volunteer pool, including carrying out community outreach.
- Maintain up-to-date volunteer postings, job descriptions and information on internal and external websites, social media and printed materials.
- Screen, place and provide appropriate individual and group orientation for volunteers, including managing the transition to their program roles.
- Maintain a robust feedback loop, providing information to staff about questions, concerns, or other issues that come up during recruitment and training.
Oversee and Administer the Senior Program
- Coordinate senior rides, friendly phone visits, senior food deliveries and senior chores by matching volunteers with clients.
- Work with staff to strategically engage businesses, churches and groups in outdoor senior chores.
- Communicate any concerns about clients to case managers.
- Implement administrative and strategic changes to improve the program.
Qualifications:

- Can handle multiple projects, prioritize effectively and meet critical deadlines.
- Has demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Is willing to engage in personal and professional work around cultural competency and knowledge of racial justice values.
- Has experience managing and supervising volunteers (preferred)
- Has experience using and mastering a variety of types of technology based tools, has intermediate experience with Microsoft tools such as word and excel, and has the ability to learn independently. Knowledge using web-based databases such as Volgistics and/or Bloomerang preferred.

Working Conditions:
Physical Requirements: Mostly sedentary work, exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally or a negligible amount frequently.
This position has considerable contact with the public and with vulnerable populations. A criminal background check will be completed by The Employer Group prior to hire.
