Public Utilities Regulatory Analyst IV – Public Advocates Office – JC - 258916 FFD – 07/17/2021 – SF

The Public Advocate's Office is the independent consumer advocate at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The Public Advocate's Office's mandate is to obtain the lowest possible rates for utility services consistent with reliable and safe service levels and the state’s environmental goals. The Public Advocate's Office represents residential and small business ratepayer interests in Commission policy-making proceedings and processes.

The Public Advocate's Office's Safety Branch is responsible for representing customers' interests on safety-related issues across all industries, including general rate cases (risk assessment mitigation phase), wildfires, emergency response protocols, physical and cybersecurity, service restoration, and emergency preparedness and response. The branch is organized into four sections – Safety Analysis Section, Safety Policy Section, Financial Impacts Section, and the Wildfire Safety Section.

Under the general direction of the Program & Project Supervisor (PPS), the incumbent’s primary assignments are related to de-energization and/or wildfire-related issues. The incumbent may be assigned work in other areas and branches of the organization, as directed. The incumbent will serve as a technical expert, including on technical, policy, and economic analyses, and as a project coordinator.
