Configuration Specialist - Integrated Design, Inc. - remotely or in Ann Arbor, MI

Integrated Design, Inc. (IDI) seeks a Configuration Specialist to join their team. Applicants have their choice of working in Ann Arbor, Michigan or remotely. The Configuration Specialist’s primary role is translating requirements identified during the sales cycle and documented by our internal analyst into an elegant, fully configured solution that simplifies clients’ complex workforce data processes and calculations. This role is critical in providing a high-quality product and exceptional client experience.

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday position with no travel. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer; no sponsorship is available. Successful candidates will be required to undergo a thorough background check, credit check and drug screen.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS $50,000 – $70,000 annually, based on your knowledge and experience, in addition to a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, prescription drug, flexible spending account, 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays, paid vacation and paid sick time.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CONFIGURATION SPECIALIST.
Solution Configuration
Review Technical Design Document (TDD) and supporting information, then build and configure software using proprietary IDI tools. Use established Best Practices to design a solution that is both accurate and supportable. This includes:
  • Write and validate the configuration plan: brainstorm scenarios for test plans, develop test plan from scenarios, and create data for test plan and add scenarios for configuration-specific testing.
  • Build and configure client-specific solution that meets best practices for reliability and supportability: create custom code as necessary, and use advanced configuration techniques.
  • Execute test plan; perform validation and quality analysis.
  • Work with partners and 3rd party vendors to unit test solution prior to client testing phase.
  • Write internal solution documentation to ensure ongoing support.
  • Facilitate internal handoff to Implementor and Business Analyst.

Initially, the Configuration Specialist relies on mentor instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform configurations. With additional training and experience, a certain degree of creativity and latitude is encouraged. This position is expected to:
  • Accurately configure a new interface based on specifications submitted.
  • Accurately modify an existing interface based on client feedback or new requirements.
  • Test a configuration to ensure proper functionality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to configure increasingly complex IDI integration solutions.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THE CONFIGURATION SPECIALIST POSITION HAS:
  • Experience with data retrieval, analysis, manipulation and transformation.
  • Experience implementing and/or supporting enterprise-grade software solutions; preferably HCM applications (i.e. time & attendance, payroll, accounting, point of sales, or HR-related software applications).
  • Experience in data analysis for support/troubleshooting which should include ASCII files, XML, databases.
  • Experience with technical writing. This can include writing technical summaries of client issues, client-specific support documentation, technical specifications, user guides, or training documentation.
  • Experience programming or supporting custom applications (.NET, Visual Basic, VBA, C#, etc.)
  • Software QA or testing experience is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and in collaborative manner with co-workers, clients and vendors.
