Job Description:
The Research Data Specialist II (RDS II) serves as the subject matter expert for the Hospital Quality Assurance Fee (HQAF) program, assists multiple divisions and various internal and external stakeholders by providing expert advice, creates program development tools, and provides complex data analysis. The RDS II, working both independently and as a technical lead over the HQAF unit, develops and utilizes various research methodologies in areas where precedents are lacking or a sparse body of knowledge or experience in the area exists. The position requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop and prepare clear and concise written communication on data-driven analysis, interconnect the HQAF processes, ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally with all levels of management and internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proficient in Statistical Analysis System (SAS) or other means to extract large datasets from the mainframe and be familiar with
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Incumbents are required to determine the scope and parameters of research criteria and perform the most complex research and data analysis projects involving: research and development of innovative or undefined methods for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data.
Six years of progressively responsible quantitative and qualitative data research experience engaged in the collection, compilation, analysis, and interpretation of data.
Incumbents must possess 12 semester or 18 quarter units course work in any combination of a data driven research-related field, such as economics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, demography, geography, anthropology, statistics, data science or a research-related field. This must include at least one course in statistical methods; and Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree. Work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis by applicants who have the required units mentioned above.
