Research and Design Intern (Remote)

About the Position

Libraries Without Borders (LWB US) is looking for hardworking, resourceful, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individuals to join our team as Research and Design interns. If you’re interested in user research, data, and human-centered design to promote digital equity and community empowerment, we welcome you to apply.

Research and Design interns will support the Research and Design Associate and Director of Education/Deputy Director with designing and iterating upon tools that strengthen and improve user experiences across all LWB US programs.

We are looking for individuals comfortable with qualitative and quantitative research methods who can leverage such findings to inform design decisions. The right candidates will be curious, self-motivated, and highly adaptive. They should also possess a strong commitment to enhancing social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

A willingness to learn and ingenuity are far more important than prior experience in the field. Since we use the scrum agile methodology for project management, we ask that candidates commit to a minimum of 20 hours/week for 14 weeks to ensure they can fully participate in the scrum ceremonies, effectively collaborate with their peers and LWB US staff, gain a practical understanding of nonprofit R&D, and develop the skills needed to carry out this work beyond the internship.
