BI Developer

BI Developers use computer software to organize and save data. Their key responsibilities include determining users’ needs, ensuring that information is secure, monitoring database performance, and providing support. BI Developers need to have excellent computer and technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems when they arise.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that data is secure
- Identify needs for databases
- Conduct testing and implement improvements
- Provide users with access and permissions
- Merge old databases into new ones
- Monitor database performance
- Troubleshoot and fix problems
Education and Background
BIDevelopers should have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited program, ideally in a field such as Computer Science or Information Technology. Employers with large databases might prefer to hire candidates with a master’s degree, and those with knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).

To qualify, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Have some understanding of basic programming, SQL, T-SQL, Data Modeling, and SQL queries.
- Must be a US citizen, a lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or holder for an EAD card that allows you to work in the US legally
- Must have already graduated with BA or MS degree (this is not for people still in school)
