Milwaukee School of Engineering invites applications for a full time, 10 month Coordinator to join our Raider Center for Academic Success (RCAS). Under the direction of the Asst. Director of Raider Center for Academic Success, the Coordinator of RCAS is to promote student success by providing students of all abilities, cultures, and socio-economic levels opportunities to access the resources necessary to meet their goals. The coordinator is responsible to the asst. director in meeting departmental goals through the training and development of students and staff, Raider Success Course instruction, student success coaching and project-based work as assigned.
Essential Job Functions
- Support the development, coordination, and effectiveness for the Raider Success Coaches (professional coaches) and Raider Success Allies (peer mentors) training and development efforts.
- Serve as a Raider Success Coach, adhering to best-practices and techniques that establish rapport and maintain a supportive, developmental relationship to a broad student population.
- Facilitate open communication with colleagues in enrollment management, campus life, multicultural affairs, wellness center, and residence life to meet immediate and future needs of MSOE students.
- Maintain working relationships with key stakeholders throughout campus, including students, academic departments, and the administration of the university.
- Provide student support to faculty and staff using the Early Alert System to offer proactive intervention for at-risk behaviors.
- Serve as an instructor for Raider Success Courses, staying abreast and implementing instructional standards that promote student engagement and development.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all MSOE academic programs, policies, and resources.
- Research, develop and communicate creative resolutions to barriers and hurdles that prevent student success.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the ongoing efforts of MSOE’s Carter Academy, RCAS Tutoring and High School Options.
- Help support and advise academically at-risk and students in crisis.
- Continually learn cutting edge trends in student development, advising, and engagement.
- Utilize various modes to deliver information and engage student, staff, and faculty.
- Keep RCAS website page up to date.
- Serve on committees and councils when necessary.

- Master’s degree preferred in a related field.
- 1-3 years of higher education experience preferred.
- Collaboration/team skills.
- Goal oriented and student centered.
- Knowledge and skills in learning and development theory, critical thinking theory, and college success strategies.
- Flexibility to handle unexpected situations and ability to work comfortably with diverse populations.
- Able to handle several complex tasks simultaneously demonstrating organization and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before others. Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral form.
- Ability to use numbers to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is largely sedentary, the ability to move is required. The employee is occasionally required to traverse within their work area as well as other areas on campus.
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
