Junior Research Scientist – Interest in GPU Computation
Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) has an outstanding opportunity for you to join a diverse team and build novel solutions in emerging technological areas for US defense and intelligence communities. We want you to apply if you have experience in software development and would like to work in any of the following areas: using Graphics Processor Units (GPUs) for algorithm prototyping, experimentation, and demonstration; training machine learning models using GPUs, and data management and analysis. We emphasize creativity, teamwork, and making a difference for defense and intelligence communities. Remote working is acceptable for successful applicants.
You will be working on developing and evaluating prototype systems that process sensor data to solve multi-disciplinary problems. This may include building pipelines that train and run Machine Learning models on imagery and 3D spatial data from many different sources, including satellites, unmanned aerial vehicles, ground vehicles, human-wearables, smart devices, and other systems. You will gain expertise in developing solutions using desktop, cloud, and edge computing platforms as well as GPUs, and modern tools for traditional Machine Learning. Other responsibilities may include assisting in the preparation of oral and written reports, supporting R&D business acquisition and customer briefings, presenting research results at scientific / engineering conferences, and publish in technical journals.
As an employee of ARA, you will have opportunities for career advancement and continued learning outside of your primary job functions. We strive to identify cross-training opportunities and encourage staff to interject new ideas into our longstanding operational programs. At ARA, we foster an environment where technical staff are empowered to research and develop their own ideas – with resources and support from a strong internal technical team and external partners.
