IT Summer College Intern - Data Science (FPL Solutions)

Position Specific Description
Responsible for working with the customer service data science team in helping collect, analyze and visualize large amounts of data as well as helping the data scientists in selecting the right datasets for each business case. You will also be responsible for coding and testing several machine learning approaches. You will provide technical help to work teams in the design and evaluation of machine learning models. Maintains and/or enhances existing or new systems and creates documentation that is reliable and efficient.
 
Required Qualifications: High School Graduate/ College or University student working toward bachelor's degree in: Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
 
Preferred Qualifications: Analytical Problem Solving, Big Data structures, Machine learning algorithms, Report Development, Good Listening Skills, Team Player, Effective Written Communications, Effective Verbal Communications, Analysis, Strategic Planning, SQL, Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (especially excel), Database Structure, Web Technologies, Information Coding Standards, Programming using any or all of the following: C#, C++, Python, Scala, shell scripting. Must have completed course work in database design/ structure, machine learning and be passionate about state of the art data visualization, artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms.
 
Qualifications that are a Plus: Knowledge of Agile Methodologies, hands on experience with AWS cloud data services, Machine learning work course, Data Modeling, Microsoft Business Intelligence Suite of products.

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists department with assigned projects
  • Completes challenging projects and assignments
  • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
  • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school grad / GED
  • Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
  • Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
