Intern - Distribution Engineering Data Analyst

- Pay: Competitive wage earning between $18.00-$24.00/hour, dependent on experience, major, and year of schooling completed
- Hours: 40 hours/week
- Location: This position will be a hybrid model, with some of the work being virtual and some based out of our Madison, WI general office.

Job Responsibilities
The Alliant Energy Business Development department is seeking a Data Analyst intern for Summer 2022 to analyze a wide variety of data across the company, particularly supporting our Distribution and Delivery System Planning Engineers. In this exciting role, you will work closely with a Power Systems Analyst to perform data collection & reporting and electrical system model building.
You will have the opportunity to build a narrative around our data in order to inform multi-million dollar decisions. You will work effectively with decision makers including managers, directors and executives and will prepare and present persuasive presentations. You also will have the opportunity to attend meetings and intern events.
Job Qualifications
Education:
- Juniors or seniors (Dec '22 grads preferred) pursuing a degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a similar field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong database skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Experience compiling and presenting data in a meaningful, accessible format
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
- Self-motivated attitude and results-oriented
- Previous professional, internship, or coursework experience related to data analysis, research, or utilities
- An active interest and desire to learn and bring fresh ideas to the utility industry
- Capable of working both independently and in diverse teams
- Curiosity and willingness to offer new insights
- Demonstrated organizational skills and personal accountability
