The Field Logistics function is a critical component of Smith+Nephew’s overall US Supply Chain strategy. Spread across 40 sites, we are the last mile and the difference between success and failure in thousands of hospitals and surgery centers each day, where our customers are helping their patients improve their lives.

As a part of the Field Development Program, you will be involved in a rigorous 6-month development program focused on providing you with the necessary skills and training to excel in your role. Upon completion of the program, you will be placed within our network where you will be able to make an immediate difference.


Primary Responsibilities

As a Field Logistics Specialist, you will own the last mile logistics of our supply chain, ensuring surgical equipment arrives at the time they are needed. It can and will be stressful, but it is rewarding knowing that you played a critical part in the positive outcome for a patient whose life is being restored through our products. You will be responsible for case coverage, inventory management, and analyzing data.


Case Coverage

Air Traffic Controller: Using reports and other resources, you will ensure the right surgical products are at the right place at the right time thereby ensuring a successful outcome in the OR for our customer and their patients. Planning ahead you will improve the turns on our product and directly impact the organization’s profitability.


Inventory Management

Gate Keeper: Team up with our commercial partners to manage inventory levels across the sales district, ensuring the right quantities are in the right place. Additionally, you will manage the quality of our products in the field.


Data Analytics

Story Teller: Following DMAIC (Define, measure, analyze, improve, and control) and using dashboards, reports, and other data sources, you will suggest improvements, spot ways to control costs, and weave a story that leads to positive change.


Other

Standout Colleague: Be available for occasional on-call shift, work within a team, taking charge when needed, and be comfortable working in a warehouse environment.

Education


  • Bachelor’s degree required – major in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or a similar field is highly preferred
  • Relevant professional certifications are a plus – e.g., APICS, Six Sigma, Lean, Project Management, etc.

Supervision

Reports to Sr. Manager, Business Improvement & Transformation. To help with your growth and development, you will be assigned a mentor who will lead all aspects of your progress.
