Business Taxes Representative- Statewide
Position(s) will be located within the following offices:
Bakersfield, Cerritos, Culver City, El Centro, Fairfield, Fresno, Glendale, Irvine, Oakland, Rancho Mirage, Redding, Riverside, Sacramento, Salinas (temporarily headquartered from incumbents' home), San Diego, San Francisco (temporarily headquartered in Oakland), San Jose, Santa Clarita, Santa Rosa, Ventura, West Covina.
The State of California’s Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals with strong communication and analytical skills to join our team. The Business Taxes Representative position is an entry level professional position that provides great potential for personal development and career advancement. As a Business Taxes Representative, you will use your analytical skills to determine how best to resolve delinquent sales and use tax accounts effectively and efficiently. You will have support from your team members and supervisor.
Under close supervision of the Business Taxes Administrator I, the Business Taxes Representative will aid taxpayers to ensure compliance with tax laws, collect delinquent taxes, and perform a variety of compliance and collection functions. The incumbent will be responsible for learning all phases of tax compliance, licensing, law, rule and regulation administration, and utilizing their knowledge when performing the duties of the compliance and collection work. Candidate must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
This position performs a variety of tasks, including the following:
• Communicating via calls, written correspondence and in person
• Conducting field visits at the taxpayer’s business and/or other locations
• Educating taxpayers
• Analyzing account and business financials
• Researching for assets
• Initiating collection actions
• Negotiating payment arrangements
• Documenting interactions with taxpayers
Interview - The most qualified candidates from the review will be invited to participate in an oral panel interview tentatively scheduled to begin the week of November 29, 2021.
Candidates must complete the required college-level courses by the time of appointment to be considered eligible. Required courses for this position are listed under the Minimum Qualifications section in this link.
