Engineering Manager
SUMMARY: The Engineering Manager will work with the Sr Director of BI and Product Development to help lead the engineering team responsible for the design, build, implementation, and maintenance of the KAGR data platform. This role will be responsible for managing engineers on the team. Additionally, they will work with the Engineering Management across engineering teams (Enterprise Solutions, Product, and Site Reliability) the enable our engineering culture, improve engineering process, and helping scale the team to ensure that we empower the growth of engineers and ensure the quality of product we deliver to our customers
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- System Architecture and Design
- Expert in cloud based data warehouse architecture, including technology systems, server setup, and configuration
- Experience with various types of data based systems (e.g. columnar and relational databases and ETL tools)
- Data Engineering Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Experienced in managing engineering process in an Agile development lifecycle
- Creating team roadmap while ensuring execution in an Agile lifecycle
- Experience in implementing engineering processes to ensure quality
- Data Management & Integration
- Expert in integrating data from many disparate systems
- Expert in data warehousing methodologies and principles
- Advanced experience in cloud based platforms to derive value from varies data sources and formats
- Expert in planning, creating, executing, and documenting master data management and data governance processes
- Leadership
- Experience in leading and mentoring engineers
- Leading by example
- Special projects and assignments as business dictates
- Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPPA
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position supervises the data engineering department
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred, or relevant experience in quantitative discipline
- 3+ years in managing engineering teams
- 5 years of experience in Data Architecture relating specifically to Data platforms and technologies
- Strong Agile development experience
- 3 years of experience in using AWS or similar cloud platform to architect systems and solutions
- 3 years of experience with Python, Java or other programming languages
- Expert in SQL, both querying and administering database systems
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in easy-to-understand language
- Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated and proactive
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
