Postdoc fellowship in Public Health Surveillance Modeling
McGill Clinical and Health Informatics (MCHI) research group invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in public health surveillance modeling. MCHI is in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Population and Global Health at McGill University in Montréal, Canada.
Motivated by the critical role blood donors have played in understanding SARS-CoV-2 epidemiology, this fellowship will focus on evaluating opportunities, limitations, and best practices in using blood donor data for public health surveillance. Planned projects will involve data analysis and modeling (survey data analysis, Bayesian modeling, decision-analytic modeling) and provide opportunities to inform public health policy. The fellow will be supervised by Alton Russell, PhD and co-supervised by David Buckeridge, MD PhD (McGill) and Sheila O’Brien, RN PhD (Canadian Blood Services).
Qualifications:
· PhD in Epidemiology, Applied Math, Health Services Research, Biostatistics, Data Science, or related by start date, with degree conferred no earlier than 2019
· Research experience with quantitative data analysis/modeling
· Proficiency in data analytics and visualization using R or a similar program
· Candidates with experience in analyzing large survey-based datasets, Bayesian modeling, multi-level modeling, or decision-analytic modeling should emphasize these skills
Start and duration: A start date in early/mid 2022 is preferred. Alternative arrangements could be made for an exceptional candidate. Funding is available for at least 2 years, contingent on satisfactory progress.
Optionally, applicants may include relevant unpublished/”in progress” research products.
