Lead ETL Developer
The opportunity
Reporting to the Consulting Manager, Client Enablement, Altus Group is currently looking for a new Lead ETL Developer. You will oversee a small team of developers and continue to be hands-on in developing new features and functionality for our products and services. You will be responsible for data quality, the oversight of developmental work, and workflow efficiency.
This is a remote opportunity for someone living and working in the Eastern Standard Time zone and the flexibility to adapt to offshore hours on occasion.
Who you are
You are a Data Engineer with a few years of hands-on experience in data storage and integration. You have expertise in ETL. You want to balance your technical deliverables with team leadership and cross-team collaboration as a key player determining how we can meet the data needs and drive key decisions for everyone.

As our new Lead ETL Developer, you will focus on:
Define application solutions and new features. You will design and build prototypes, and develop new features using the latest web technologies or backend technologies such as data storage and integration platforms to build technical specifications used to convert data in Talend. You will interpret customer requirements and identify and build data structures. You will code, document and implement project specifications programs. You will perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for escalated production issues.
Lead the team. You will direct and guide the day-to-day tactical work of a geographically dispersed team. You will:
- Be accountable for assigning and reviewing work.
- Provide regular and effective progress updates.
- Support project resource scheduling and department capacity planning.
- Contribute to post implementation reviews helping to demonstrate success.
- Monitor and manage project and team performance.
Provide technical guidance. You will work with Services to draft solutions, configuration specs, and test plans to meet client requirements. You will monitor the ETL process by the development team and provide insight to ensure ETL output is created properly and adaptive to logic.
Collaborate. You will build trusting relationships. You will:
- Partner with the Services Manager to ensure project delivery on time and on budget.
- Take responsibility for ensuring that risks and issues are identified and managed closely and drive all stakeholders to meet timelines and the required quality standards.
- Work closely with relevant teams internally to ensure alignment and coordination across operations as part of the seamless implementation of existing and new systems
So, how do we know that’s you? You have:
The relevant education. You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics or a related field. You have hands-on experience in a Data Developer or Data Analytics role, expertise with Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, macros, discounted cash flow analysis) and data integration ETL tools such as Talend, and exposure to working across the SDLC.
The industry interest. You have a keen enthusiasm for growing your knowledge in a new industry. You may have exposure to or can quickly build your understanding of real estate functions such as Valuations, Property Management, Underwriting, Tenant lease data, Portfolio Management, and Reporting.
The leadership skills. You can build collaborative working relationships and gain the trust of your team, influencing their work to ensure deliverables are met on time. You are capable of understanding and contributing to the technical solution from design through to code level. You have strong project management capabilities, including time management, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and balance several projects concurrently.
