Research Associate - Neurosurgery & Neurotechnology Lab
Lab Technician II Opportunity: Our lab, Translational Biomimetic Bioelectronics Lab (TBBL) has a full-time position with full benefits in the exciting space of neuroelectronics. We need a technician/research assistant to take an important role in the testing and pre-clinical demonstration of advanced neurosurgical tools. Our animal model includes rodents and sheep. These experiments include neurophysiology and histology.
Lab Technician II Qualifications: Applicants must have at least 6 months of work experience in a biomedical or neuroscience laboratory. Skills should include some of the following: animal survival surgery, electrophysiology, histology, and laboratory maintenance. A passion for the translation of medical device technology is desirable. Any of the following skills are helpful, but if not, we will train the applicant in signal processing, programming, data analysis, and data presentation.
TBBL: Our mission is first-in-human demonstrations of the most advanced bioelectronics for the treatment of neurologic disease. We have several new, long-term positions available in the TBBL at UTHealth Houston and located in the Rice University Neural Engineering program space. (www.seymourlab.org). We are also part of the Texas Institute for Restorative Neurotechnologies (TIRN).
World Class Environment: Lab members will benefit from a close interaction with our growing team and collaborating experts in the fields of neurosurgery, neurology, neuroscience, machine learning, materials science, mixed-mode circuits, and system design. Our closest collaborators at UTHealth are neurosurgeons, neurologists, and neuroscientists who offer critical design input for human or primate use. Our lab is also located in the Biosciences Research Collaborative at Rice University and part the Rice Neuroengineering Initiative, thus collaborations are possible with faculty at UTHealth, Rice University, and Baylor College of Medicine. Our front-end fabrication is performed at the Rice Nanofab facility.
Competitive salary and benefits are offered to qualified candidates. Houston is an exciting and thriving metropolis that is investing heavily in biotechnology.
