Data Scientist Intern - Summer 2022

Position Overview

PNC Decision Analytics and Research (DAR) offers an exciting summer opportunity to qualified graduate students in quantitative or technical fields to perform advanced research and development in the areas of business analytics. Specifically, the areas of focus consist of advanced marketing science, implementation of scalable complex statistical models, machine learning, digital/social media, data mining techniques, and large data sets, as well as unstructured data.


Decision Analytics and Research (DAR) is part of PNC Marketing. It is responsible for the design, implementation, and execution of analytics-driven marketing strategies at PNC. DAR’s capabilities include: strategic consulting, business process/system engineering, marketing analytics and optimizations, statistical modeling and reporting, data and analytical platform/infrastructure development, consumer insights, and competitive intelligence research. Selected interns will utilize the skills learned in their MBA (with quantitative focus) and PhD program to contribute to project based work with a focus on machine learning, statistical modeling, econometrics modeling (Time Series, Vector Autoregressive Models, Panel Models), big data, Hadoop, and digital strategy. This program will be 3 months in length, with a targeted start date of May 23, 2022 and end date of August 5, 2022.


This will be a temporary assignment with PNC. Those hired will be pay rolled through PNC’s 3rd party payroll provider.


This is a remote position and can sit anywhere within the PNC footprint, except for Colorado, Hawaii, Alaska. There is limited expectation for regular in person, in office activities.


Job Description

Participates as an intern performing various functions within a line of business.

Work Experience

Roles at this level are filled by recent university / college graduates with little or no professional experience, but possessing relevant skills. Includes individuals joining the organization through a Corporate development/ training program. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
