Analyst, Operations Analytics

Job Summary:
The Analyst Operations Analytics uses data analytics and predictive modeling techniques to provide insight into network’s operational performance and reliability. This role suggests areas and methods of improving operations and measures the impact of recommendations. Assists in executing analytical approaches and methodologies and interpretation of results. Collects and analyzes external data to make recommendations presented to the company. Works as part of a team presenting reports to management used in decision making and strategic planning.  

Requirements
Education 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics
Experience  
  • 0-3 years’ experience in Analytics, ideally an internship
Specialized Skills 
  • Exposed to predictive modeling and advanced modeling techniques, including machine/deep learning techniques 
  • Proficient in data and modeling languages, such as SQL, SAS, R, & Python 
  • Aptitude in highly technical and data-intensive problem-solving, including the ability to logically structure analytical frameworks 
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Power Point.  Knowledge of pivot tables, functions, regression analysis, etc. 
  • Ability to work directly with all levels and vendors 
  • Ability to distill large amounts of data into meaningful summaries, KPIs and scorecards 
  • Identify all required data sets and sources based on business requirements and needs 
  • Drive value by contributing to the development of predictive models 
  • Ensure all relevant data is gathered, is recorded correctly and stored in such a way that analysis can be efficiently executed 
  • Develop methods for benchmarking KPIs against industry/peers and collect industry relevant data. 
  • Ad-hoc analysis to address current business questions, as needed 
  • Maintain a network reliability model which forecasts/simulates impact of operational metrics to the network and its stakeholders 
  • Deliver detailed performance analysis on a station and system level to increase awareness of operational performance against established goals and providing detailed analyses to support operational decisions 
  • Identify inventive ways to combine data from multiple sources to improve predictability and business outcomes 
  • Create formulas and queries where necessary in order to analyze data and report information 
  • Assist in development of network reliability model and its sub-components, including block times, turn times, maintenance times, crew reliability scoring, misconnect scoring, and others 
  • Ensure absolute integrity of data, DOT Submittals, reported KPIs, and consistency of reported data  
  • Assist with rationalization of reporting, actively recommending consolidation and elimination of duplicative reporting, and deploy automation where possible 
  • Produce relevant graphs, charts and draft narrative for weekly and monthly reporting 
  • Determine queries to create required/necessary reports 
  • Assist in development of operational KPIs, automated reporting, statistical analysis, corporate and departmental performance goals, and report performance against those goals   
  • Maintain Station Performance Scorecards: Distribute analyses on monthly performance and staffing metrics
